Analyzing Employee Risk Based on Job Demands
Job demands analysis is an on-site analysis at the employer that reviews essential and critical demands of the job. The data is collected through objective measurements, observation and interviews of employees and supervising managers. Physical Therapists (DPT) are well suited to do this due to their expertise in human anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation. They can identify potential risks and hazards, recommend modifications, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
A Jobs Demands Analysis will help develop specific protocols for Physical Ability Testing as well as with POETs and be critical to guiding treatment during rehabilitation and ensuring a safe return to work plan.
Post Offer Employment Testing (POET)
Post Offer (Pre) Employment Testing (POETs) is a test designed from the Job Demands Analysis (JDA) that focuses on the essential and critical demands of the job. Each screen is individualized to meet the needs of the employer. This test gives an opportunity to the employer to determine if the new employee (post offer, pre-employment) is physically able to perform the job duties that they have been hired to perform. This also helps to determine employee baselines for any future illness/injury as well as identifying any pre-existing conditions that may limit the new hire performance.
